Nasal and Sinus Surgery (Rhinology)
Led by fellowship trained rhinologists Drs.
Joseph Raviv and
Auddie Sweis and established in 2007, our nasal and sinus surgery program was the first in the northern Chicagoland area to offer comprehensive medical and surgical treatment for chronic sinusitis by a fellowship-trained otolaryngologist.
Medical and surgical treatment options are tailored to each patient with a multidisciplinary team, incorporating the expertise of other subspecialties including allergy, immunology, pulmonology, neurosurgery, oculoplastics, and maxillofacial surgery. Interdisciplinary minimally invasive surgical approaches to the skull base, orbit, and optic nerve are performed.

Diagnosis and Treatment
We make use of the latest technological advances in the diagnosis of sinus disease. All initial evaluations through our sinus program are dedicated to providing accurate diagnosis and educating the patient of sinus treatment options. After reviewing a patient’s medical history and physically examining the nose, the physician will often further examine the sinuses utilizing a fiber-optic scope. This procedure, called nasal endoscopy or rhinoscopy, is performed in the examination room. To further assist in diagnosis, a computed–tomography or CT scan may be taken.
Medical and surgical treatment options are tailored to each patient with a multidisciplinary team, incorporating the expertise of other subspecialties including allergy, immunology, pulmonology, and maxillofacial surgery. Medical options include the use of topical nasal sprays, antibiotics and often an allergy evaluation. Sinus surgery options are explained in detail, with our team being dedicated to providing the latest in technological advances. Minimally invasive and computer-assisted surgical techniques are available for patients with refractory or complex nasal and sinus disease. In addition, as a leading sinus care practice in the region, we have become a referral destination for patients that have previously failed sinus surgery.
