Internal Medicine Residency Salary and Benefits

Salary
Salaries are reviewed on an annual basis and adjusted accordingly.
On-Call Meal Allowance - $150 per month

Continued Medical Education
- CME Allowance: PGY 1 and PGY 2 $1000 , PGY3 $2000
- Plus five paid educational days
- 24-hour access to Medical Library
- Simulation training at Midwestern University
Paid Time Off (PTO)
Paid Time Off (PTO) is an employee benefit that combines vacation, holiday and sick leave programs into one plan. Residents may take up to 20 days PTO per year. The Department of Medical Education must approve the period during which vacation and leaves may be taken. Residents may not take more than five days PTO per block.

Professional Liability Insurance is provided by the hospital.
Certifications
Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certifications are offered during orientation week.
Lab Coats/Scrubs
Two lab coats and one pair of scrubs are initially provided to each resident, and one additional lab coat per year thereafter.
Parking
Residents are allowed to park free of charge in the hospital parking garage.
Child Care
The Child Care Center is on-site and open to residents. Residents should contact the Center directly to arrange their child care needs at 773-907-1008 or visit the Child Care Center page.
Library
The Stromberg Health Science Library, managed by a medical librarian, is home to current text books and journal collections that are updated on a regular basis. The library has institutional access to Internet and on-site CD-ROMs for Medicine, CINAHL, Cancer lit and Up-to-Date searches. The library is accessible to medical staff on a 24-hour basis.
Residents also have access to Midwestern University’s online library resources
