Pregnancy Classes
Baby Care and Infant CPR Class
The Baby Care and Infant CPR Class is a one-day class taking place on a Saturday or Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., covering topics such as cord and circumcision care, jaundice, diapering, bathing, green baby tips, car seat use and calming a crying baby.

Breastfeeding Class
Receive instruction and learn breastfeeding techniques from board-certified lactation consultants.
Price: $20 per couple. If you have Medicaid or are uninsured and delivering at Swedish Hospital, please contact our Call Center at

Childbirth Education Class
The childbirth education class is offered as a one-day weekend marathon class. A tour of the maternity unit is included. This class covers what to expect during labor and delivery, birthing options (including those who desire a natural delivery experience), admission to the hospital, epidurals and pain management, comfort measures including massage techniques, vaginal and C-Section births, common interventions and scenarios, and much more.

New Mom Classes
New Moms Group
Whether you delivered at Swedish Hospital or somewhere else, all new and expecting moms are welcome to join this free, weekly support group. The group is facilitated by midwives, psychologists, lactation consultants and other experts and covers topics such as postpartum body changes, feeding challenges, exercising post-delivery, dealing with baby blues and more. Babies welcome!

Galter LifeCenter, a part of Swedish Hospital and Chicago's only certified medical fitness center, is located on our hospital's campus. From aquatics to yoga, they offer a variety of pre- and postpartum exercises classes.
