Artist-in-Residence: Kari Lindholm-Johnson
Creating art can help patients and family members visualize emotions and experiences and be active participants in the healing process. Funded solely by donations, Swedish Covenant Hospital's Artist-in-Residence Program provides patients and their loved ones with the opportunity to work with an artist to create works of art that visually interpret their story and feelings.
"Spirituality, people and wonders of connection are what call to me in my art making," said Artist-in-Residence Kari Lindholm-Johnson. "I find joy in color, form and relationships. Creativity and crafting visual art as a means of hope for the healing process are driving forces for me. I like taking something that exists and thinking about possibilities, and also the ways in which things weave together for meaning.
"These processes factor into the commissions I’ve done, the various ministry settings in which I’ve served and my personal art making, some of which can be viewed at KariLindholm-Johnson.com
. These things have found expression for me in my work as Artist-in-Residence at Swedish Covenant Hospital where I create art with and for patients and curate art exhibits."
