For Immediate Release
CHICAGO (June 8, 2015) – This summer, Swedish Covenant Hospital will open a new immediate care center on Chicago’s north side, providing community members with access to convenient, quality health care for a variety of non-life-threatening emergencies. The center, which opens in the Sauganash neighborhood (6141 N. Cicero Ave.) later this month, will offer care for adults and children. An additional center will open in North Center in July.
“As a longtime resident of Edgebrook, I am pleased about this opportunity to expand our services into Sauganash and surrounding neighborhoods like Edgebrook and Lincolnwood,” says Swedish Covenant Hospital President and CEO Mark Newton. “This expansion is a vital part of our mission to provide patients with the right care, at the right time, in the right place. I am confident that the Swedish Covenant Immediate Care Centers will fill an important void in our community and provide patients with high-quality care, even closer to home.”
The center will offer a range of treatments and services, including:
- Treatment for minor illnesses such as: colds, flus, upset stomach, allergies, ear infections and skin conditions
- Treatment for injuries such as: sprains, broken bones, minor burns and animal bites
- School and sport physicals
- Routine physicals and vaccinations
- On-site lab and X-rays
- Results sent to patients’ primary doctor
- Pediatric care for children 12 months and older
Once open, the immediate care center will offer extended weekday hours (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and weekend hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), to increase access to care for busy families. Additionally, walk-in appointments will make it easy for patients to get treated for urgent illnesses and injuries.
Members of the media are invited to a ribbon cutting and reception for the opening of the Sauganash Immediate Care Center on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at noon. Join elected officials, community leaders and Swedish Covenant Hospital staff as they celebrate the grand opening of the new center at 6141 N. Cicero Ave. If you plan to attend, please contact Nicole Joseph, communications manager, atnjoseph@SwedishCovenant.org.
