Stroke Care at Swedish Covenant Hospital: Why Choose Us?

Swedish Covenant Hospital is certified by the Health Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) as a Primary Stroke Center. This certification reflects our commitment to high standards in diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. A majority of the patients who come to us with stroke-like symptoms are able to get the care they need without leaving our campus.

Highlights of our program include:
• Around-the-clock access to experts: Every minute counts when you are experiencing stroke-like symptoms. Our rapid response team of specially trained nurses and other stroke experts comes together in minutes to deliver care that lowers your risk of life-changing complications, including difficulty walking. • A successful track record: Most patients who are eligible receive life-saving stroke medications within 60 minutes of arrival. We have met this standard for more than 24 consecutive months. As a result, the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognized us with the Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award with Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll. • Rehabilitation care that meets your needs: Our large team of rehabilitation experts addresses your needs from head to toe. Therapies may include help with talking, swallowing, dressing and cooking. If you are relearning how to walk, we utilize new technologies such as the robot-assisted Ekso GT device. Read more about inpatient stroke care and rehabilitation.

Spectrum of Stroke Care

Our Stroke Services

• Emergency care: We coordinate imaging tests and assessments so you can receive the care you need as quickly as possible.
• Inpatient care: Our team of board-certified neurologists, highly skilled nurses and experienced pharmacists comes together to help you get the best possible care. We monitor your breathing and blood pressure around the clock so we can respond to the earliest signs of potential complications.
• Inpatient rehabilitation: Rehabilitation starts as soon as you are medically stable, often within a day or two. This proactive approach helps you get back to your normal routine when the time is right. Rehabilitation helps you relearn everyday skills, such as walking or talking, so you can live life on your own terms.
• Outpatient rehabilitation: We help you ease back into daily life with one-on-one therapy sessions. Outpatient rehabilitation may include speech therapy to help you communicate with others or physical therapy to regain use of your arms and legs.
