Music Relaxation Program
Walking to your doctor's appointment, you faintly hear violin music floating down the hall. When you follow your ears, sure enough! – you see a trio of teenagers playing classical music for everyone on the 3rd floor.
This sort of experience isn't as uncommon as you might think. You can regularly enjoy all kinds of music played by volunteer musicians in Swedish Covenant Hospital. You can find them in patient care areas, like pediatrics and cardiac services, in addition to strolling through hospital departments. You might also hear music coming from our baby grand piano on the 2nd floor of the Galter Medical Pavilion!
Performers take great pride in partnering with you for your entertainment and enjoyment. In fact, this program began through our partnership with the People's Music School, a well-known Chicago community school that offers free music lessons and musical instruments to anyone willing to donate time volunteering at the school in return.
We hope you have the opportunity to enjoy this unique experience with us. Ask your caregiver about the next scheduled performance.
