Your Loved One Helps You In (and Out) of the Hospital

It can be very difficult to remember everything your doctor and nurses tell you. And it's hard enough when you're in the hospital—so what about when you get home?

We encourage you to designate a loved one to be with you during your time in and out of the hospital, to listen and help you understand the details of your care. We call your loved one a CarePartner, since you choose them to partner with you in providing for your health.

With your approval, your CarePartner can join all discussions with physicians and nurses about your care; learn how to give back massages or baths; support you and even stay overnight. And when you leave the hospital, they will still be with you when you get home, which eases the transition and makes your recovery that much easier.

CarePartners also receive reduced parking, reduced meal pricing and longer visiting hours while you are in the hospital. To learn more about how to officially name your CarePartner, please talk to your nurse or caregiver.
