Expanded Clinical Services
Clinical services that have recently undergone expansion at Swedish Covenant Hospital include:

  • Neurological surgery — The Chicago Back Institute at Swedish Covenant Hospital offers patients the most advanced minimally invasive spine procedures available, and the expertise of internationally renowned neurological surgeons.
  • Genomic medicine — We have partnered with DNA Direct, one of the leading genomics resources, to provide patients with clinical genetic counseling, testing and treatments.
  • Surgical services — We are currently constructing the Foster Medical Pavilion on campus, which will house an Ambulatory Surgery Center equipped with three outpatient operating rooms. This will also allow for expanded acute surgical procedures in the hospital’s main operating rooms.
  • Specialty care — The new Foster Medical Pavilion will also house physician office space with a particular focus on specialties including orthopedics, neurology and thoracic care.
  • Primary care, internal medicine and family practice — We will be opening several new locations for these services, including a suite in the Foster Medical Pavilion and expanded offices at the hospital’s Mayfair location.
  • Medical Residency program — Swedish Covenant Hospital’s dual-accredited residency program trains more than 50 full-time residents a year and 50 to 60 medical students each month.

Technological Advancements
Some of our most recent technological investments include:

  • Electronic Medical Records — Swedish Covenant Hospital is one of the only hospitals in Chicago to have a paperless EMR system and is among the top 3 percent of hospitals in the U.S. for our advanced level of health care informatics. The hospital continues to work toward integrating its system with private physician offices.
  • da Vinci Si HD Robotic Surgery System — The latest in minimally invasive surgery for general, urological, gynecological, urogynecological and cardiothoracic disciplines.
  • Siemens Definition Flash CT — The world’s fastest and most precise CT unit, this scanner provides the most advanced heart imaging with the lowest dosage of radiation available.
  • Fuji AcSelerate digital X-ray — Swedish Covenant Hospital was the first facility in North America to have this equipment and completed clinical trials that helped lead to its FDA approval.

Wellness and Preventive Integration
Swedish Covenant Hospital shares a campus and a partnership with Galter LifeCenter, Illinois’ only certified medical fitness center. This relationship and proximity means patients and physicians are just steps away from award-winning fitness, nutrition and complementary and alternative medicine services.

Galter LifeCenter also houses the hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation, physical rehabilitation and pain management, weight management and diabetes care centers. All services at Galter LifeCenter can be fully integrated with a patient’s care plan.
