Outpatient Neurological Program
At Swedish Covenant Hospital, an independent lifestyle after stroke is within reach. Our outpatient neurological program specializes in meeting the unique needs of stroke patients. We have helped thousands of patients achieve goals that maximize their sense of well-being and quality of life.
Outpatient Neurological Program for Stroke Survivors
Outpatient rehabilitation helps you relearn skills you may have lost due to complications of stroke. These skills may include walking or taking care of your basic needs, such as eating and bathing.
Our outpatient neurological program helps you return to your daily activities at home and in the community. Your treatment may include speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy.
Highlights of our program include:
Our therapists are dedicated to helping stroke patients achieve their highest potential. Each member of our team receives ongoing training in stroke recovery. This level of expertise helps us tailor treatments to meet your changing needs. Find out more about rehabilitation services
• The latest therapy technologies:
We offer the best available stroke recovery technologies. Swedish Covenant is unique in its use of the Saebo ReJoyce workstation. ReJoyce uses fun activities to improve your grip strength and regain control of your arms.
• Community re-entry:
We provide special opportunities to build your confidence as you transition back into everyday life. Our therapists coordinate outings to local stores so you can practice your therapy work in a real-life setting. We stay right by your side, encouraging you every step of the way.
To get the best results, you may need therapy up to three times per week. We take extra steps to make these visits easier on you and your loved ones by helping you receive multiple therapies in a single visit, and in back-to-back appointments whenever possible.
Nothing makes us happier than watching our patients thrive after completing therapy. Many patients return to an active lifestyle, including their favorite hobbies.

Outpatient Stroke Rehabilitation: What to Expect
Our goal is to help you become your best self. We use your preferences and information from your inpatient care team to develop a personalized rehabilitation plan.
Here’s what to expect:
We measure how well you are able to move, speak and perform everyday tasks, such as getting dressed. Our therapists also talk with you about your goals, which may include being able to drive again or overcoming swallowing problems.
• One-on-one therapy sessions:
We help you get the most out of each therapy session by giving you our full attention. We also make every effort to keep your therapy team consistent. Doing so helps us closely monitor your progress and adjust therapy plans to meet your changing needs.
• Community re-entry:
Our therapists lead weekly outings to take your independence to the next level. We bring small groups of stroke survivors out to community settings, including the grocery store. These outings are an opportunity to use the skills you’ve learned in therapy.
Recovering from stroke can bring unexpected changes to your life, and we’re here to help. Our support services include speaking with a psychologist for emotional support. You can also lean on fellow survivors at our monthly stroke club
• Ongoing Care:
Your care journey doesn’t have to end when your therapy program is complete. Our therapists meet with some patients once a year to measure progress and give recommendations toward gaining even more independence.
