At Swedish Covenant Hospital, we understand that disease discovery and diagnosis are a critical part of getting you well. Our Department of Laboratory Medicine is made up of dedicated professionals who work with your physician to collect and analyze diagnostic tests that will help identify what ails you—and find the treatments that will make you feel better.

Our revolutionary laboratory provides physicians with a 12- to 24-hour turnaround time on most routine procedures. Ninety-seven percent of physician and hospital requests are performed right here at Swedish Covenant Hospital. Whatever your needs, we take care to make you feel comfortable while offering you the latest, most advanced diagnostic procedures.

The Department of Laboratory Medicine offers laboratory analysis and patient testing in the areas of surgical pathology, autopsy, cytopathology, FNA assists, chemistry, immunology, hematology, coagulation, toxicology, urinalysis, microbiology and transfusion medicine.

The laboratory uses continuous flow processing (CFP), which helps to provide rapid, accurate results on most routine procedures. The department is accredited with the College of American Pathologists and fully approved by Medicare and Medicaid.

After you receive a referral from your physician, you will receive instructions on how to present for testing. For more detailed information about on the kinds of tests we provide, please see the list in the sidebar.
