American Cancer Society’s Look Good Feel Better Program

Swedish Hospital partners with the American Cancer Society’s Look Good Feel Better program to provide wigs, specialized makeup packages and education on how to best use these resources to female cancer survivors who have experienced hair loss and skin changes from chemotherapy and radiation. The program is free to all qualifying women, regardless of insurance or income status.

Community Breast Health Program

Swedish Hospital is a Community Breast Health Program due to our ability to diagnose and treat breast cancer from start to finish. The continuum of care begins with imaging, education and initial navigation services in the Women's Health Center. When a diagnosis of breast cancer is confirmed, patients are directed through the various processes related to care planning and treatment with the assistance of our breast health navigator. 

Cancer Wellness Center

Swedish Hospital partners with the Cancer Wellness Center in Northbrook, Illinois to offer education, empowerment and psychological support to individuals affected by cancer. For more information, call 847-509-9595 or visit CancerWellness.org

Gilda's Club

Imerman Angels

Imerman Angels partners individuals diagnosed with cancer who are seeking support with other survivors or caregivers who have faced the same type of cancer in their own lives. To learn more, visit ImermanAngels.org or call 866-463-7626.


Lymphedema Screening and Prevention

Swedish Hospital's outpatient rehabilitation services offers lymphedema screening and prevention for patients who have undergone surgical procedures for breast cancer involving lymph node removal or patients suffering from pain, weakness or restricted movement of the arm during or after breast cancer treatment. Treatment may include education; muscle strengthening, stretching and stabilization; neuromuscular re-education; mobilization of painful and restricting scars and assistance in obtaining the correct compression garments for lymphedema prevention.

Medical Ethics

It can be difficult to decide what is in the patient's best interest or what course of treatment best reflects what a patient wants. Medical ethics means going through the process of determining what is the "best" or "right" thing to do when the choices and their consequences are not evident and there is disagreement among those involved. Nutrition Counseling

Nutrition counseling with a registered and licensed dietitian is available. Counseling begins with a nutrition assessment and the development of a personalized meal plan specifically designed with your healing in mind. To schedule an appointment, please call 773-878-6888.

Physical Therapy

Swedish Hospital offers outpatient physical therapy to help patients relieve pain, build strength and gain mobility. To schedule an appointment with one of our physical therapists, please call 773-989-1681.

Palliative Care

Palliative means to "make less severe or intense or to relieve." Swedish Hospital's palliative care team is available to formulate a care plan focused on increasing comfort and improving quality of life based on the patient's choices, values, religious beliefs and culture. Pastoral Care

Social Work

Swedish Hospital offers counseling and information on community resources for patients and families. Our social workers examine the emotional, physical and social components of a patient’s life and environment to provide individualized services. To learn more, call 773-878-8200, ext. 1607.

Health Psychology

Cancer can cause stress, anxiety and depression. Experienced health psychologists on staff at Swedish Hospital understand how health conditions and associated stress can cause both physical and emotional strain for a patient and their family.

Pain Management

Pain management at Swedish Hospital includes physical and occupational therapy, health psychology, alternative therapies, medication and self-care counseling to help cancer patients cope with pain.
