Three Swedish Covenant Hospital employees were recently awarded the Service Member Patriot Award for their dedication to supporting military service members. The award recognizes supervisors who provide employed service members with flexibility in their work schedule and leaves of absence when necessary. Recipients of the Service Member Patriot Award are nominated by members of the U.S. military who are employed in their workplace as civilians.
The awards were presented by local guard and reserve personnel to Joyce Dominic, RN, BSN, Linda Trotier, RN, and Steven Meier, MS, RN-BC at Swedish Covenant Hospital. First Lieutenant Hilary Eichie nominated his three supervisors for their ongoing consideration.
“I am glad Swedish Covenant Hospital is full of individuals who are willing to work with my schedule to account for time off during deployment,” said Lieutenant Eichie. “My fellow unit members often ask if the place I work is military friendly. I tell them that I never needed to ask that question because the individuals at Swedish Covenant Hospital have proven this to me regularly over the weeks and months that we worked together.”
The award recipients are a shining example of Swedish Covenant Hospital’s dedication to providing service members with the resources they need to serve their country without worrying about limitations placed on them by their civilian career.
“We are honored Swedish Covenant Hospital is being recognized for our support of the United States military,” said Anthony Guaccio, COO of Swedish Covenant Hospital. “My father served in the Korean War, and a number of my uncles served in Vietnam, which makes me personally grateful to work in such a place. As an organization, Swedish Covenant Hospital is willing to go above and beyond to accommodate service members as a small way to recognize them for the service they provide to this great country.”
First Lieutenant Eichie is a four-year member of the United States Army, where he serves in the 801st Combat Support Hospital as Battalion Equal Opportunity Officer, Battalion Public Relations Officer and as a platoon leader for the 801st Alpha Company. At Swedish Covenant Hospital, First Lieutenant Eichie works as a staff nurse level II for 4 East. He has been an employee of Swedish Covenant Hospital since March 2013.
