Q: What are the hours at the Wound Care Center?
A: The Center is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday)

Q: What causes non-healing wounds?
A: Chronic and non-healing wounds can result from a number of factors, including diabetes, trauma, vascular disease, and immobility (which can lead to pressure ulcers, commonly known as bed sores). People with diabetes are at particular risk.

Q: Do I still see my primary care physician? 
A: Yes, you will still see your private physician periodically. The Wound Care Center works closely with your physician during the course of treatment. You must keep your appointments at the Wound Care Center and those with your physician who will monitor your overall health and prescribe related therapies. The Wound Care Center will send progress notes to your physician.

Q: Does insurance cover treatment? 
A: Many health plans cover treatments, but you should contact your insurance carrier or work with the Credit Services staff at Swedish Covenant Hospital to get more specific information regarding your situation.

Q: What can I expect at my appointments?
A: At your first appointment, you will fill out a health questionnaire and will see our team comprised of Nurses, Nursing Assistants and Physicians. You may have tests ordered and in most cases, will receive treatment on the very first day. It is important for you to show up at your appointment as regular treatment and follow-up is essential to healing your wound. The frequency of visits is individualized to each patient, but generally, weekly visits are all that is necessary.
