Preparing For Your Visit

Before Your Visit

When preparing to visit Swedish Covenant Hospital's Wound Care Center, it is important to remember the following ways to make your appointment as productive and efficient as possible.

  1. Keep your appointment. It's the first step toward healing your wound.
  2. Make a list of any allergies you have and any medications you're currently taking, including aspirin, vitamins and herbal products.
  3. Bring any medical records you have available, and insurance cards and forms.
  4. Call us if you need to coordinate transportation to and from the hospital, or if you need an Interpreter for your visit.
  5. If you have diabetes, bring snack food and medication with you.
  6. Your first visit will take some time, so please be patient.

Your First Visit

When you come in, our staff will evaluate your wound and general health. They'll also review your medical history. Blood tests may be involved. You may also need special tests that give us information about blood flow in the wound area.

Your Healing Program

When your test results are in, we'll put together a treatment program based on your special needs. This program may include regular visits to the Wound Care Center to provide treatment, evaluate progress and make any changes that might be needed. Learn more about wound care treatments >

Remember: You're a Vital Part Of The Program

Much of the success of your treatment depends on you. You must keep your appointments, follow directions carefully and watch your progress closely between visits. Any time you or your family members have questions, we encourage you to ask questions.  Learn home treatment and prevention techniques >

You or your caregiver will be given detailed instructions on home care, dressing or bandage changes and protecting the wound from further injury.
