Swedish Covenant Hospital's revolutionary laboratory provides physicians with a 12- to 24-hour turnaround time on most routine procedures. Ninety-seven percent of physician and hospital requests are performed at the hospital. Under the direction of board-certified pathologists and cytopathologists, the department is accredited with the College of American Pathologists and fully approved by Medicare and Medicaid.
The Department of Laboratory Medicine offers laboratory analysis and patient testing in the areas of surgical pathology, autopsy, cytopathology, FNA assists, chemistry, immunology, hematology, coagulation, toxicology, urinalysis, microbiology and transfusion medicine.
The laboratory uses continuous flow processing (CFP), providing physicians with a 12- to 24-hour turnaround time on most routine procedures. Ninety-seven percent of requests are performed at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago.
